TERMS:
Post-consumer waste (PCW) This refers to paper that has reached the end consumers. Paper that is recycled in
bins then is turned back into paper.
Closed-loop recycling This is a production process in which post-consumer waste is collected, recycled and
used to make new products. This process can be as simple as using recycled aluminum
to make new cans, or as complicated as weaving reclaimed plastic bottles into polyester
for clothing and other products.
FSC (Forest Stewardship Council) is an independent, non-governmental, not-for-profit
organization that was established to promote the responsible management of the
world's forests
SFI (The Sustainable Forestry Initiative) is a North American 'forest certification
standard' and program of SFI Inc., a non-profit organization. In 2005, the Program for
the Endorsement of Forest Certification, which itself is the world's
largest forest certifications system, recognized the SFI standard.
VOC (Volatile Organic Compounds) are precursors to the formation of photochemical
smog which affects our health and impairs the visibility in our city.
Many products contain VOC and that include printing materials such as printing inks,
fountain solutions and cleaning agents.
Canopy works with the forest industry’s biggest customers and their suppliers to develop business solutions that protect these last frontier forests.
